Clones Town Walking Tour

Megalithic remains at Scotshouse and Wattlebridge indicate that the Clones area was inhabited from the very earliest times. Clones town (Cluain Eois) began as a monastic settlement c. 500 when St Tiernach founded his monastery there and this was the most important site in Monaghan for centuries afterwards.

The Ulster Canal Cycle Trail

A 77km linear cycle trail between Maghery, County Armagh and Clones, County Monaghan. The Ulster Canal Cycle Trail travels through a rich scenic tapestry of lowland lakes and rushing rivers. An array of tourist attractions are situated along the route and include forest parks, historic houses and galleries with plenty of opportunity to stop at traditional restaurants and pubs to savour local specialities.
